You may not have more than 90 days of unemployment while you are engaging on OPT. If you plan on forfeiting your OPT before the expire date on your EAD card, you must notify the USCIS officials. Email us at intlss@hunter.cuny.edu for more information. In addition, if you are transferring to another U.S. approved school while you are on OPT, please be mindful that on the day that your SEVIS I-20 is release to that school is the day that you should stop working. In other words, transferring your SEVIS I-20 to another school automatically cancels your EAD/OPT card.
