This form must be filled out at least three months before your I-20 Program End Date. Your program End date can be found on your I-20 under "PROGRAM OF STUDY".

An extension of program on the I-20/DS-2019 does NOT extend the visa stamp in the passport. A visa cannot be renewed in the U.S. If your visa has expired, you are allowed to remain in the U.S. and continue your studies, but you must apply for a new visa at a U.S. embassy in your country of citizenship if you are planning to re-enter the U.S. as an F-1 or J-1 the next time you travel.

If you are requesting for your I-20 to be extended to two semesters, you must submit new financial documents to prove that you still have the funds to continue with your studies by providing at least the total expenses for one year shown under FINANCIALS on your I-20.
