Tuesday, November 17, 2026 from 5:30pm to 7:00pm in Room 115 at the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College (2180 3rd Ave., New York, NY 10035) Join us for an engaging and thought-provoking presentation exploring the complex clinical issues that arise in working with men across diverse practice settings. Designed for social work practitioners, clinicians, faculty, researchers, and students, this session will examine how masculinity, trauma, relationships, identity, culture, and social expectations influence men’s mental health and help-seeking behaviors. Participants will explore evidence-informed approaches to engaging men in therapy, addressing shame, emotional expression, fatherhood, interpersonal violence, sexual orientation and gender diversity, aging, and resilience. The presentation will also consider how clinicians can challenge restrictive gender norms while promoting culturally responsive, strengths-based, and trauma-informed practice. Attendees will have an opportunity to engage the speakers and leave with practical clinical strategies, current research insights, and teaching ideas that can be applied in both direct practice and social work education.
